Arsenal and Everton are set to go head to head in the race for Lyon French forward Alexandre Lacazette. Both Premier League outfits seem in need of strikers with Arsenal’s need been a dire one. With Walcott sidelined till the end of the season and Bendtner out for 4 weeks, Wenger is weighing up a move for the in-form 22 year old.
So far this season, Lacazette has scored 9 goals in just 14 appearances. Hence, it isn’t a surprise the Gunners are interested. His versatility is another reason why Wenger might just be serious about him as he can play on either wings that makes him a good replacement for Walcott and also through the centre and there, he would be a good back-up for his French compatriot Olivier Giroud.
Another bonus a move for him presents is his availability in the Champions League. Since Lyon aren’t in the Champions League, Lacazette would be available to play for the Gunners in the knockout stages should Arsenal complete his signing. Also, if he has been watching latest Arsenal matches, he will know he has a big chance of winning the premier league with Arsenal in his first season.
That said, Arsenal aren’t the only team interested, according to Sportsdirect News, Everton manager Roberto Martinez is also eyeing him. Everton are doing well at the moment but their attack is dependent on loan stars Lukaku and Deulofeu. Hence, Martinez is already preparing for life after them should he fail to get another loan spell or succeed with an outright move.
Should Lacazette be presented with a choice between Arsenal and Everton, I expect him to opt for Arsenal because the lure of playing under Wenger could prove too strong.
