Arsenal’s hopes of landing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund have been dealt a blow with the news that Manchester City do have the option to re-sign the player.
According to the Manchester Evening News, City inserted a buy-back clause when they sold the Gunners target to Borussia Dortmund back in 2017.
Sancho left City for Germany in a £8 million deal but City were keen to ensure that they put themselves at the front of the queue should they wish to re-sign him in the future.
City will have the first refusal on the player should an official bid be lodged.
A host of Premier League clubs are being linked with a move for Sancho, with one report claiming he could become a £100 million player.
If Pep Guardiola’s side do not look to pursue a deal to re-sign Sancho, they could still benefit from him moving on.
While they inserted a buy-back option, they also added in a 15 per cent sell-on clause.
City were willing to pay the player £30,000 a week to stay at the club, but he decided to take his career to Dortmund, where he is now impressing in the German top flight.
