Already heavily praised midweek for his performance against Liverpool in the Champions League, David Ospina has done it again, and repaid Carlo Ancelotti for his trust, keeping him as a starter despite some early season mishaps.

The Arsenal loanee, for whom Napoli have a clause to make the deal permanent towards the end of the season, was key in his side’s 2-0 win over Sassuolo on Monday, making three very good saves from various forwards in the second half, all with his feet.

Impressing the San Paolo faithful, Ospina has now been dubbed the ‘new Garellik’ by Il Mattino, referring to Claudio Garella, who played for Napoli between 1985 and 1988.

The easiest way for readers to understand what this means is that the now 63-year-old was once dubbed ‘the best goalkeeper in the world, but without his hands’ by the former head of Fiat Gianni Agnelli.
