Arsene Wenger’s search for a new striker next season might have suffered a blow as reports have it that both Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Juventus’ Alvaro Morata are both uninterested in a summer move to Arsenal.
Also to be included is Paris Saint Germain’s Edinson Cavani who is also targeted by Arsenal but set to sign a new contract with the club that will see him stay at the club until 2020 according to Sky Italia. The former forward’s contract includes a £6.2 million salary which will make him one of the top earners in French Ligue 1.
While Wenger has publicly backed forwards Oliver Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott, he is said to admit in private that his attach needs urgent strengthening in the summer as his current strikers are not world class.
Morata is a Spanish international who plays for Juventus and might most likely move to Real Madrid at the end of the European Tournament where he impressed in the second group game against Turkey scoring a goal. Real Madrid is reported ready to take up their option of buying the Spainard back for £23 million and the reselling him this same summer for a fee in excess of £30 million. Though Morata hasn’t come out to state his career plans, he is set to shun the advances of Arsenal who want him at the Emirates this summer.
With all three strikers showing a lack of concern on moving to Arsenal, Arsene Wenger would have to move to Plan B to actualise his plans for the summer.
