Lyon president, Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that Arsene Wenger blocked his move to bring Arsenal striker, Olivier Giroud back to France, as reported by the Evening Standard.

Although speculation had arisen that Olivier Giroud would push for a move away following the signing of Alexandre Laczette, with Lyon one of the leading candidates to take bring Giroud back to Ligue 1.

Lyon had tried to include Giroud as part of the £52 million Lacazette deal but Aulas has confirmed to French news outlet, Le Progress that Wenger blocked any deal that would include Giroud.

“I wanted to sign him but Arsene Wenger would not sell him. We still have superb young attackers.”

It is thought that West Ham have dropped their interest in Giroud while Marseille have also ended their pursuit leaving only Everton as a likely candidate.
