With Steven Taylor leaving Newcastle United after the expiration of his contract and Fabricio Coloccini expected to also leave this summer and return to Argentina, Newcadtle United manager Rafa Benitez is desperate to sign Arsenal centre-back Isaac Hayden who spent last season on loan at Hull City.
Hayden is a centre-back by trade and was impressive at Hull as the Yorkshire club won promotion to the Premier League after a year absence. Hayden is wanted by several clubs with the likes of Hull, QPR and now Newcastle United interested in his services this summer. The defender played 24 league games for Hull in the Championship under Steve Bruce and was one of Hull City’s shinning lights as the season ended up in a success for the club. Born to a Jamaican mother and English father, the 6ft 2ins tall centre-back made his Arsenal debut as a midfielder in
September 2013 in the league cup win over West Brom. Hayden has played in all age levels for England (U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19 and now U-20).
Rafa Benitez has identified the centre-back as his ideal centre-back who will aid the North East club’s Premier League promotion charge next season .
Though Hayden is talented and Arsenal in defensive crises after the likes of Gabriel Paulista, Calum Chambers and Per Mertesacker all under-performed last, it will be in the best interest of the defender to be sent out on loan again this season to develop further and gain play time. This will allow him to learn more about the game
rather than throw him our straight into the Arsenal first team . This is the same thing that happened with Jack Wilshere who was sent on loan to Bolton and was only recalled in 2011 after he impressed at the club.
It is not yet clear which club will sign Hayden this summer but it is a known fact that he is actually going on another loan spell this summer.
