According to various reports in the English media today, West Ham are prepaed to make a big money move for Arsenal’s Mathiue Debuchy. This is as previous reports had claim Debuchy is not ready to return back to Arsenal after spending the last six months on loan to French ligue one side Bordeaux.
Debuchy had forced a move away from the Emirates stadium last winter after been unable to regain back his first team place from Hector Bellerin who made the right back position his when Debuchy was out injured. Manchester United were reportedly linked with a permanent signing of the former Newcastle United star last January but Wenger blocked the move preferring to instead send him to France on loan.
While on loan in France, Debuchy did considerably well. He was as a matter of fact close to making the France squad for the European championship, that was until he got injured at the tail end of the season.
With West Ham and Lyon said to be interested in the £80,000 a week Arsenal star, it will be a surprise if he remains at Arsenal beyond the just concluded season. He was never happy to be a second choice behind Hector Bellerin and I just can’t see that changing soon.
A move to West Ham or Lyon will benefit both clubs. Arsenal will get out a player who earns £80,000 a week but doesn’t play off the wage bill while Debuchy himself would finally be able to play regular first team football with a club bigger than Bordeaux which is what he needs if he intends to get back into the France team.
