Arsene Wenger’s Wenger’s search for a new left back has taken him to the Samba country Brazil as the French man attempts to strengthen his backline, in his quest to parade a title winning squad next season.
The Arsenal manager has been linked with couple of left backs across the World as he seeks a replacement for Kieran Gibbs. It is widely thought that Gibbs is pushing for a move away from Arsenal after being fed up of playing back up to Nacho Monreal.
Gibbs has reportedly told Arsene Wenger about his desire to leave the North London club and the French man is believed to be willing to sell should he find a suitable replacement for him.
Arsenal have made contact with Atleico Mineiro as regards signing their left back Douglas Santos, according to Brazilian media outlet Hoje Em Dia via the Metro,
Gibbs, 22, has been impressive for the Brazilian side Santos, attracting the interest from top European clubs. It’s believed that Spanish champions Barcelona are keen on the defender but are yet to contact the Brazilian club.
The North London club has now moved swiftly ahead of Barcelona by contacting the player’s club. The Brazilian club is set to lose the defender and it is believed the Brazilian club would demand as much as £7.7m for the fullback.
