According to quotes in the Express, Juan Cuadrado’s agent has played down talk the attacker will leave Juventus after Arsenal reportedly tabled a £17.6m bid for his signature.
Arsene Wenger is facing a busy summer trying to not only bring in quality reinforcements but he also needs to resolve contract disputes with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil.
With the trio all being linked with moves away from the Emirates this summer, The Sun reported last week that the boss has lined-up Cuadrado as a potential new signing.
The Colombian international endured a disappointing six-month spell at Chelsea before moving to Turin and has struggled to nail down a place at Juventus but it seems Wenger is ready to give him a fresh start in north London.
The newspaper claimed that Arsenal tested Juve’s resolve with an opening £17.6m bid but the Serie A giants are believed to be holding out for at least £30m.
It remains to be seen whether we’ll be prepared to pay that kind of money but it might be irrelevant as Cuadrado’s agent Alessandro Lucci has been quoted as saying that the 29-year-old isn’t interested in leaving Juventus this summer.
Amid reports of Arsenal’s bid, Lucci is quoted by the Express as saying:
“Juan does not want to leave Juve and Juve do not want to sell him so there are no ongoing negotiations at the moment,”
“Nobody has neither contacted me nor Juventus and I am the only one in charge to talk about the future of Juan.”
So it looks like Cuadrado won’t be going anywhere this summer and I personally think we’ve dodged a bullet anyway as he’s nowhere near good enough to replace the likes of Sanchez or Ozil.
