Derby County have signed Arsenal youngster Aaron Eyoma on a one-year deal.
Eyoma spent the back end of last season with Derby’s under-23 side and it was expected he would be released by the Gunners this summer.
The attacker played 85 minutes for Darren Wassall’s young Rams against Tottenham Hotspur and also featured in the pivotal 1-0 win against West Ham United which significantly boosted their Premier League 2 survival hopes.
Eyoma also spent time on trial with Queens Park Rangers last season – but has been training with Derby during the off-season and the deal has been done.
“I came here knowing that Derby was a big Championship club that was renowned for playing attractive football, similar to what I had been used to at Arsenal,” he told the club’s website.
“That was a big appeal for me.
“I was there for eight years and made a lot of friends during that time with the players and coaches.
“It was a time for a fresh start, though, and I am delighted to be here.”
Eyoma, 20, came through the youth ranks at Arsenal, representing their under-18s and under-23s. He also had a spell on loan at Dutch second division club FC Volendam last season.
He will be used largely within the under-23 set-up.
