West Ham seems to have moved ahead of Arsenal for the summer signing of Lyon defender Samuel Umiti who has been called up to the French national team after the injury sustained by Barcelona’s Jeremy Matthieu.
According to DailyExpress via The Week, Arsenal were surprised that West Ham have gone far in the race to sign the defender. Umiti is a 22-year-old and is known as one of the best defenders in the French Ligue 1. Slaven Bilic is a known admirer of the French international and it seems he would do anything to have him in the East London.
Also according to TalkSPORT, Arsenal are ahead other clubs in the race to sign Armenian attaching midfielder Henrikh Marhintaryan who has refused to sign a contract extension with the German club. The 27-year-old had his best season as he scored 23 goals in all competitions also providing a further 32 assists.
The player has refused to sign a contract extension as his existing contract has only one year to run. BVD might find it easy to cash out on him given that he would become a free agent in 12 months if he doesn’t extend his contract and thus the club not receiving any money on his transfer next season. The Armeanian was signed in 2013 from Sharkar Donesk and has gone to to impress since his move.
The player is known for his ability to play anywhere in the attack, especially slightly behind the striker where he links perfectly with the other players and is able to convert most of his chances. He is applauded for his technique, movement , excellent passing , dangerous shot, dribbling, creativity and ball control which has won him many admirers.
Another report from Daily Star has revealed how Arsenal and Tottenham are squaring to face off in the transfer fight for Ajax youngster Riechedly Bazoer. Spurs have scouted the player for long and even had Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino watch him and also send two of the club’s ranking staff members to watch him.
Bazoer 19, who is valued at £15.5million by Ajax has been called up for the Netherlands national team in recent games against Ireland and became the youngest player in the team.
