Arsenal, according to Gazzetta dello Sport are willing to pay £20m to sign Inter Milan defender, Jeison Murillo after asking Inter Milan about the defender’s availability this summer.
Arsene Wenger has already made a first signing in midfielder Granit Xhaka but the Frenchman is widely expected to continue to bolster his squad with a new defender likely to arrive.
Per Mertesacker’s weaknesses at the back and Gabriel’s inconsistencies have let Arsenal down in search for a partner for Laurent Koscielny. Now, Arsenal need a new top-class centre-back and he is likely to be brought in this summer.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim Arsenal are one of several clubs who have made contact with Inter Milan to discuss the availability of Colombian Jeison Murillo.
Murillo who only joined Inter last summer has settled well in Italy and it appears his impressive performances at the back have caught the attention of Wenger.
Gazzetta suggests that with Inter needing to source for £39m this summer to cover their debts to be able to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules, the Italian giants are ready to cash-in on Murillo as long as their asking price of £20m is met.
