In a news that could mark the end of Theo Walcott at Arsenal, reports from Armenia today are claiming Arsenal are on the verge of signing Borussia Dortmund star Henrikh Mkhitaryan after the high rated midfielder rejected Dortmund’s offer of a contract extension.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Juventus and Chelsea in the last couple of days but according to Armenpress, the player has accepted an offer from Arsenal and will be joining the Gunners should both Arsenal and Dortmund be able to agree a deal.
The report went further to say that Dortmund are willing to accept an offer of 24 million as they do not want to lose him on a free transfer next year as the midfielder only has one year left on his current deal.
This news if true could amount to Walcott either leaving the club or be retained but as a second choice striker behind whoever the club is buying this summer as Wenger himself has confirmed he will be bringing in a striker to the club this summer.
One thing is certain, signing Mkhitaryan will make a lot of sense. His versatility will benefit Arsenal when injury strikes and he is definitely a big upgrade on Theo Walcott.
Imagine an attack line that contains Mkhitaryan, Sanchez and a striker like Icardi or Morata? With Ozil behind them? That will be scary.
