While every Arsenal fan is expecting the news that French defender Laurent Koschieny is the new captain of the club after current captain Mikel Arteta was released by the club in the summer, the news from the dailies in the UK has it that Arteta led a session on passing at the FA Wales Coaches Conference in the weekend.
Arteta has been hampered by injuries in the last two years of his stay at Arsenal and revealed on the last day of the season that it was his last season in Arsenal.
The Spanish midfielder is a product of Barcelona’s famed La Mesia academy along with the likes of Pepe Reina and Cesc Fabregas. Having played and attained legendary status in Rangers and Everton, he sealed a last minute move to Arsenal in 2010 along with Per Mertesacker.
Arteta rejected a contract extension from Arsenal and also offers from Arsenal rivals Tottenham for a link up with good friend Pep Guardiola as a coach at Manchester City next season.
