The signing of a striker and a centre back is what most Arsenal fans want Wenger to address this summer after having addressed the defenivs midfield problem. However, Spanish giant Real Madrid are considering a move for Arsenal’s key defender, Laurent Koscielny, as a replacement for fellow departing Frenchman, Raphael Varane according to French website, Foot Mercato.
Laurent Koscielny has been a solid rock in a turbulent defence over the last few seasons and it would be a major blow to Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal should he decide to leave North London.
Koscielny, 30, has been the most reliable in what has looked a shaky French National team defence so far at the European Championships on home soil and is now looking forward to a tie with giant killers Iceland in the quarter-final.
The strong centre half at club level has only won the English FA Cup and the FA Community Shield in his time at Arsenal and may see a late move to Real Madrid as a big chance to challenge for more silverware especially the Uefa champion’s league before retirement.
French defender Varane, meanwhile, has been linked with a move to the Red devil to link up with former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese brought the Frenchman into limelight during his time at the Spanish capital.
Should Manchester United sign the unsettled Varane from Real Madrid, the Los Blancos will be under pressure to snatch Koscienlny who might be tempted with silverwares.
