According to reports in France, Arsenal are now back in for one of their summer targets Clement Grenier of Olympique Lyonaise. The player was reportedly on his way to Arsenal in the summer as he was dithering over a new deal with the French club but he instead decided to remain with Lyon claiming he does not want to leave his childhood club on a free transfer.
“I have a contract which now runs until 2016. We’ll see what happens here in a year. Anyway, I told the President that whatever happens, I will not leave my club for free.”
However, few months later, Lyon are in financial crisis and the player may finally be allowed to leave the club. According to the reports, Wenger has not stopped tracking the player and has made his representatives understand he will be interested should the player be willing to switch clubs and leagues.
The reports claim Arsenal can get their man for as little as £6m once the winter transfer window opens.
