For the Fans of Arsenal, this transfer window has easily become the most arduous and unexciting. This follows from the club’s inability to complete deals for several transfer target that have constantly headlined the Arsenal media wave. Fans expectations are really high I must say – especially as the club failed to sign any outfield player last season and shockingly lost the Premier League title to Leicester City who are nowhere near Arsenal in terms of technicality and players quality.
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is looking to bolster is attacking line with an “experienced attacker” – this led to the media wave being awash with the reports that Arsenal were keenly interested in the Premier League player of the season Riyad Mahrez.
However, the manager of the player Claudio Raniery has been found playing down a possible move for the player as he believes he would get more playing time with the Foxes. However, Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their quest to land the skillful winger.
This follows from a reports according to Clubcall that Polish Winger Bartosz Kapustka is close to joining the Foxes and he has been dubbed as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez. Just yesterday, Kapustka revealed that he was on his way to England and it is believed that a deal of £5.25m is already in the offing for the talented midfielder.
Certainly, kapustka will fancy playing along the mesmeric Mahrez but it looks like a fantasy. To further affirm Arsenal interest in Mahrez and the club’s seriousness in the Algerian bloke, Wenger was spotted at Leicester City’s game against Paris Saint Germain where they were thumped 4-0 and we think he was mainly there to see his mahrez. Known for his discreteness in the transfer market, Wenger denied he was there to watch Mahrez.
“I cannot give you a Yes or No because we do not publicize our transfer interest and the best way to make things happen is to keep it as secret as possible." He said when quizzed after the game.
Arsenal are short of potent attacking options. Should we sign Mahrez, this will definitely bring back the glory days for Arsenal. We can imagine Mahrez in the shirt of Arsenal operating from the right wing, Sanchez from the left and Ozil as the pivot between the two players.
