North London club Arsenal has been constantly linked to couple of strikers this summer since the clubs failed attempt to land England international and Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, who opted to remain at the King power stadium despite triggering the strikers release clause.
Here we take a look at five players the Gunners can sign in the next one week, as Arsene Wenger look to bolster his squad as soon as possible.
Despite recently signed Japanese striker Takuma Asano, Wenger is still in the search for a world-class striker to help lead Arsenal’s attack.
According to Don Balon, Arsenal are prepared to offer Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata £144,000 a week ($250,000) to convince the Spanish star to move to the Emirates.
Morata should be available for around £30 million after Real Madrid landed him for £23 million recently as part of the buyback agreement in his Juventus contract. His agent Juanma Lopez has revealed in recent times that he is mulling over offers from England, with Arsenal apparently one of the interested clubs.
The Arsenal manager is also looking to strengthen his goalkeeping position with Dutch stopper Guy Smit being handed a two-week trial with the club.
The talented 20-year-old goals keeper is out of contract at NEC Nijmegen and has had offers from a string of Championship clubs, including Brighton. His deal could be concluded soon, as Petr Cech would remain first choice keeper, but second string David Ospina is wanted by Beskitas while Wojciech Szczesny wants to extend his loan deal at Roma.
According to Football Whispers, Romelu Lukaku may be heading to Arsenal this summer as Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his striking options.
The striker has been undecided about his future and when asked about his whereabouts next season, Lukaku told Sky Sports News HQ: “It’s my agent who is dealing with that aspect. I’m just focused on Belgium, and the most important thing is helping my team.”
Mauro Icardi who has been constantly linked to the North London club, scored 16 goals in all competitions last season for Serie A side Inter Milan, coming at a rate of more than a goal every two games. He could be considered should Arsenal fail in their bid to sign other striking targets.
Football Whispers are linking the Gunners to centre-back Neven Subotic. The Serbian has played over 250 games for Dortmund since joining in 2008, but only managed 11 agames in all competitions. The player last season announced on his Facebook page last month that he was looking at other options away from the Bundesliga club.
The ball is in Wengers court to make Arsenal fans happy ahead of the season.
