Arsenal defense have been left thread bare with injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista.
Although, Rob Holding joined this summer from Bolton but the Gunners are still on the search for a centre back that walk straight into the first team of Arsenal.
Reports according to Daily Star claims Arsenal have now turned their attention to Italy born centre back Davide Astori, who laces his boot for Fiorentina.
But according to Italian outlet GAzzamercato Wenger enquired about the availability of Astori, who joined Fiorentina from Cagliari in 2015 after a brief loan spell at Roma.
The 29-year-old centre back joined Fiorentina in the summer of 2015 in a loan deal which had a compulsory buy option.
Arsenal have been in contact with Valencia for the transfer of Mustafi but the Gunners will be unable to meet the German’s release clause. This has left Wenger with no choice than to look else where to bolster his shabby looking defense.
Astori has a further three years left to run on his current deal in Florence and is valued at 40million Pounds.
