Tottenham are reportedly still on track to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura but Arsenal remain in contact.
After visiting Spurs’ training ground on Thursday, the Mail on Sunday report that Lucas is rather keen on a move to the Lilywhites.
The Mail, as well as the Telegraph, both insist the 25-year-old will only set Spurs back £22m. While other sources claim he could cost as much as £35m and will pocket £75,000-per-week in wages.
L’Equipe report that although Lucas visited Spurs’ training ground on Thursday, personal terms had actually already been agreed as early as Tuesday.
Mauricio Pochettino was apparently ‘pleasantly surprised’ with the winger when he visited the club’s Bulls Cross training ground this week.
While in north London, Spurs’ technical staff are said to have explained to Lucas what his role would be within the squad.
According to the French outlet, Lucas has always preferred a move to the Premier League and, after playing for PSG since 2013, he appointed one of his people to keep an eye out for a move to England.
Although Daniel Levy is said to have preferred a loan move, PSG are pushing for a permanent transfer.
The Ligue 1 giants need to make some money in order to comply with financial fair play rules at the end of the season and while they will have money coming in from TV and sponsorship deals before then, showing a willingness to generate funds by selling players will put them in good stead.
L’Equipe point out that while Lucas’ move to Spurs is ‘very much on track’, he’s been careful not to break contact with Arsenal or Sevilla. Just in case.
Since Lucas last played for his national side, Brazil, in 2016, Spurs will have to sort out his work permit before he plays.
