In reports in both the French and the British media yesterday are anything to go by, then Arsenal are set to finally sign a striker this summer. This is coming two weeks after Jamie Vardy rejected the Gunners and chose to remain at Leicester City. Having lost out on Jamie Vardy, Wenger has reportedly moved for other strikers but has been priced out.
However, Alexandre Lacazette could be on his way to Arsenal this summer in a deal said to be worth £34.2m. According to the reports, Lyon are mandated to accept any bid in the region of £34.2m for the French striker. Lyon reportedly want in excess of 45 million for the player but the player’s camp has leaked the existence of a clause in his contract that allows any interested club to buy for £34.2m.
Judging by the report and the market situation, Lacazette is more and more looking likely to be playing for Arsenal next season. Arsenal’s other targets are Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku both of who are said to be available for upward of £50 million. A price Wenger is very unlikely to pay.
Signing Lacazette will however be interesting in many aspect. For £34.2m, one will expect him to be first choice but considering Giroud benches him at national team level, could the same thing be happen at Arsenal?
