Arsenal certain need another centre back and according to various reports, the Gunners are working hard to bring in a truly world class centre back to partner Laurent Koscienly in the centre of Arsenal’s defense.
And according to various reports, Wenger is interested in signing AS Roma’s Kostas Manolas. Manolas was linked with a move to Arsenal in 2014. Many thought the player will join Arsenal but Arsenal and his then club Olympiakos were unable to reach an agreement on a transfer fee and the player ended up at Roma.
Now due to a financial problem at the Rome club, the Greece international could end up playing in Arsenal colours. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma have up until the 30th of June to cough out €30 million or they will be thrown out of the Champions League and the Europa deal. This situation is similar to the situation that led to Arsenal signing Santi Cazorla from Malaga years ago.
Arsenal are said to be aware of the situation and are working to see if Manolas can be signed by offering Roma €35 million for the high rated and very powerful centre back. Should Arsenal not be able to convince Roma to sell Manolas, they intend to try for Rudiger who is on partly a Roma player having signed for them from VfB Stuttgart on a year loan deal with an option to buy for €9 million.
It is believed Arsenal can sign Antonio Rüdiger for €15 million.
