After arriving at Arsenal as their record signing in a deal worth around £53m, Alexandre Lacazette has made some revelations about his move to the Emirates and revealed that he turned down a move to Paris Saint-Germain to join us this summer.
The striker who had already agreed to sign for Atletico Madrid last summer saw the move fall apart after FIFA banned the La Liga club from making any signings.
With the French giants in the market for striking additions, Lacazette was one of the options considered before they finally lowered their expectations and signed Neymar and M’bappe.
Lacazette has revealed that he was not ready to play for another club in France and opted for a move to Arsenal for a club record fee, he told RMC Sport via Evening Standard.
“We talked to PSG but I knew it was not where I wanted to go. In France, I would only play for Lyon, PSG could have helped me progress because they of the big players they have but I wanted to play in another league…”
Lacazette opened his Premier League account on his debut against Leicester City and has added three more goals for Arsenal on the back of bagging 28 goals in just 30 games at Lyon last season.
However, he will be hoping to score away from the Emirates as he is yet to register a goal away from home as yet – perhaps he’ll bang in a couple against Everton in a couple of weeks
