Ray Parlour doubts Wilfried Zaha can be the player to replace Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal but insists the Crystal Palace star is ‘very dangerous’. Arsene Wenger has reportedly identified Ivory Coast international Zaha as a target as Sanchez continues to be linked with a January departure.
Sanchez, who joined the Gunners in 2014, was close to joining Manchester City last summer and is expected to finally leave the Emirates this winter with his contract up at the end of the current season. Zaha, 25, has been Palace’s most important player this decade, playing over 250 games for the Eagles either side of a poor spell at Manchester United, and has scored two goals in four games since his return from injury last month.
Arsenal are said to be preparing a £35million bid for the Palace man but Parlour cannot see Zaha replacing Sanchez at the Emirates. Speaking to talkSPORT, the three-time Premier League winner said: ‘He’s a player that can run at you, he’s got great pace. ‘He’s probably lacking a little bit of goals, he gets in some great positions and maybe his end product is not as good as it should be. ‘But I think it will improve and in a better team you might get more out of him. You’re going to be losing 25 goals a season. That’s the big problem Arsenal have, how do you replace that?
