According to reports, Arsenal have emerged as the clear favorites to sign highly rated Barca target Elseid Hysaj. The Albanian was said to be a target for Barca who want him to replace Dani Alves who is thought to be on his way to Barca.
The Albania international defender has had a good debut season at Napoli, establishing himself as the first choice right back, making 43 appearances for the Italian giants. His performance attracted interest from Europe’s elite clubs including and Bayern, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal.
Football Italia reports that, Le10 Sport claimed that the Gunners have increased their €15 million offer to €19 million, in a bid to tempt the defender away from Napoli. The full back moved to Naples from Empoli for €5 million and Arsenal’s offer would see his valuation quadruple in the space of only one season.
Barcelona have started tracking the 22-year-old defender after rivals Atletico was reported to be monitoring his progress over the course of several games, according to Le10 Sport (via SPORT)
Aside the Napoli full back, Southampton’s Cedric Soares and Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin have also been linked to Barcelona, who are looking to replace the legendary Dani Alves, who is set to join Juventus this summer. Their hopes of landing Hector Bellerin were dashed after the player pledged his allegiance to Arsenal and ruled out a move away from the Emirates this summer.
Arsenal must move very fast for the Napoli man if they want to get the Albania international, considering the number big spending clubs that are interested in signing him. Bringing the Albanian international to the Emirate will bring about an healthy competition for Bellerin.
