Would Marouane Fellaini Be A Good Signing For Arsenal?

The new Vieira?
The new Vieira?

Do you think Fellaini would be a good signing for Arsenal? I’ve asked this question to myself countless times and I’m still debating whether or not I would welcome him at the emirates. I’ve asked the questions to numerous Arsenal fans and looking back at the answers it’s a split decision. So why is there a split verdict over Arsenal buying Fellaini?

The Everton midfielder was born in Belgium and played football for Anderlecht from the age of eight, from a young age he showed his strength and pace whilst on and off the ball. I look at Fellaini and see a tall guy with a stand out hair style, but then I watch him play and see why Arsenal is so heavily linked with him. He doesn’t glide along the surface like other players he’s heavier and has more of a presence instead, I do however see his floors. With his loose elbows and dangly legs flying about with the occasional head butt and shove he has a tendency to lose his cool. Vieira comes to mind here.

Marouane Fellaini is definitely a player Arsenal need in the midfield, a player who can drive from box to box with pure strength and power and be skilful and technical when needed. He doesn’t shy away from a tackle and has an aerial threat which Arsenal need. Last season for Everton he played brilliantly as he has done for the last few season, but personal I think 2012/2013 was his stand out season. He scored more than ten goals and had numerous assist to his name, away on international duty he’s help Belgium become a real force and surprise candidate for the 2014 World Cup. I’ve heard the words “Belgium’s golden era is coming” whispered around and see Fellaini as the heart of that Belgium team.

He’s certainly a talented player with years at the top left in him but how much could it cost Arsenal to bring him to the emirates? Apparently between £20m -£24m, according to reports. That’s a lot of money for a player with no real champion’s league or no international tournament experience behind him, is he worth £20m+ and what sort of wages would he demand? I’d maybe prefer Arsenal to bid £20m+ for players such as Isco and İlkay Gündoğan, or maybe even £10m+ for players like Victor Wanyama or Lars Bender.

I am a huge Arsenal fan and more than anything I want Arsenal to return to winning ways, not challenging for champion’s league places but fighting for the title. I know every season the thoughts at the back of Arsenal fans minds hoping the title will return but honestly the team is not good enough right now, the midfield needs another Patrick Vieira bursting through the middle and stopping the opposition from scoring. I do sometimes see Marouane Fellaini as that player, but I also see other players for that role and that’s why I can’t decide whether or not I want Marouane Fellaini especially if you consider the little experience he has at top level. What are your thoughts on him? Is he a player you want to see in an Arsenal shirt next season or not?

  1. I fullly agree in maybe getting someone cheaper yet strong for that position and rather use the rest for both Higuain and Rooney.

Out style of play can suit Rooney & Higuain and they can score goals for fun at Arsenal.
Think about Carzola defence splitting passes that will either land to Rooney or Higuain.
Opposition defence will always find it difficult to man mark any of the two as they are not only dangerous with their runs, but have a better positioning too for a goal.

  2. I see him a good player and can bring immediate impact to our squad. He is also worth the amount. What I may be complicated of, whether he will partner arteta or wilshere/ramsey at the deeper role of the mid-field.

  3. Fellani is every club dream in epl today because is great player,he’s pretty good!Arsenal should sign fellani&there mid field predicament will be over….they’ll not regret signing him…trust me!
