Arguably, Arsenal have the best array of midfielders in the Premier League and this saw Wenger sent Jack Wilshere on loan so as not to remain redundant at the Emirates……
However, former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has warned the England international not to return to Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger allowed Wilshere to join Bournemouth on a season-long loan during the summer, hoping that the injury-plagued midfielder would be able to work his war back to match fitness on the south coast.
Since making the move, Wilshere has been a regular starter for the Cherries and was heavily involved when he helped Bournemouth thrashed Liverpool 4-3 yesterday.
Wilshere will be out of contract with Gunners at the end of next season but Wenger insists he has every intention of offering the 24-year-old a new deal on his return to the Emirates in May.
However Carragher isn’t sure whether that would be the right career move for him to make, believing Wilshere would struggle to make it back into the Arsenal first-team.
The former Liverpool defender told Sky Sports: “Jack Wilshere’s at the stage where he just wants to play football.
“With the competition for places at Arsenal, he’s probably not sure [about playing every week].
“He’s got a massive decision to make. I saw what Arsene Wenger said about him signing a new deal but if I’m being honest, if I were Jack Wilshere, I wouldn’t go back to Arsenal.
“I don’t see how he fits in. He’s playing in a No 10 position now and Mesut Ozil is better in that position than him so he won’t play there.
“Wilshere just goes back to square one where he’s not sure whether he’s playing, and at 24 [years old], forget about what club you’re at or what you could win.
“You want to play week in, week out, for 90 minutes, and show what you can do.”
