New Arsenal head scout Sven Mislintat has today explained what changed at Borussia Dortmund that led him to depart the club.


45-year-old Mislintat, nicknamed ‘Diamond Eye’, had been a part of Dortmund’s setup for the past decade, proving a key contributor to their reemergence as one of the dominant forces in the Bundesliga.

Mislintat oversaw the signings of all of Shinji Kagawa, who was actually playing in his home country of Japan when first spotted, Robert Lewandowski, who has since gone on to become one of the finest strikers in world football, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has racked up 95 goals in 139 league outings for the club, and Christian Pulisic, who is widely regarded as one of the most gifted starlets on the planet.

Mislintat’s arrival at Arsenal has been labelled as a huge coup by a number of experts, with the German having long been regarded as one of the most gifted scouts in Europe.

The newest member of the Gunners’ staff was questioned on his decision to depart his home country for England today, and revealed that the actions of former Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel, who brought his two-year spell with the club to an end in May of this year, proved crucial to his decision:
