UNAI EMERY’S style of play will suit Arsenal and bring trophies back to the Emirates.
That’s according to former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.
The Spaniard took charge of the Gunners following legendary boss Arsene Wenger’s decision to step down at the end of last season.
Emery has been tasked with restoring Arsenal’s status as Premier League title contenders following a disappointing campaign last season that saw them finish sixth, failing to qualify for the Champions League for the second season running.
The north London side have been busy in the transfer market, bringing in a new goalkeeper and two new defenders to fix their porous backline, as well as Uruguay World Cup star Lucas Torreira to add steel to the midfield.
And Berbatov has backed Emery to turn Arsenal around and back into a competitive force.
“He’s the right man for Arsenal to bring them to more success,” he told the Evening Standard.
“I watched a lot of games when he was in charge of PSG and I liked the way his team was playing the ball around the pitch from the back with the keepers, through the defenders, midfielders and attackers.
“They always controlled the game and the ball was moving on the pitch not in the air and I think what he’s going to do with Arsenal.
“He will be even better at Arsenal because Arsenal are always trying to control the game with short passes and moving together up the pitch, so it’s a perfect place for him to develop his vision of the game and I think he’s going to have success there.”
