Steven Gerrard admits that the arrivals of both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are turning Arsenal into a “scary” team going forwards.
The pair both moved to The Emirates in the January transfer window as the Gunners moved quickly to bolster their squad in the mid-season period.
Aubameyang joined for a club-record fee from Borussia Dortmund, while Mkhitaryan signed for the Gunners as part of the same deal which saw Alexis Sanchez head to Manchester United.
Both of the attackers have hit the ground running at The Emirates, with Aubameyang netting his first goal for the north London side in the 5-1 win over Everton on Saturday, and Mkhitaryan notching up three assists.
The pair know each other well from their time spent playing together at Borussia Dortmund, and Gerrard believes that the partnership is going to boost Arsenal significantly in the second half of the campaign.
Speaking to BT Sport on Saturday night, Gerrard said: “I think they’re made for each other.
“The awareness of Mkhitaryan, the unselfishness… he’s perfect for Aubameyang and visa versa.
“I think about my relationships with number nines – your Owens, your Torreses and your Suarezes, they needed me, and I needed them.
“These two are on the same wavelength. They connect and the chemistry between them is unbelievable.
“If they connect for Arsenal, going forward they are going to be a scary team.”
Arsenal are currently outside the top four as they bid to try and get back into the race for Champions League qualification this season.
The Gunners ended up in fifth place in the table last term as they had to settle for a place in the Europa League this time around.
