Arsene Wenger has outlasted every Premier League manager and former Tottenham boss Harry Rednapp is disappointed that Arsene Wenger visits the director’s box before Arsenal games.
Wenger’s hands-on approach at the club he’s managed for more than 20 years surprises Redknapp, who consciously tried to distance himself from the boardroom.
The Frenchman even mingles with the Gunners top brass before big European games.
Writing in his new book ‘It Shouldn’t Happen to a Football Manager’, Redknapp said: “You have to be sensible about how you handle your chairman or owner.
“That is something I impress upon young managers following my own mistakes.
“I was never one for trying to push myself into a director’s world.
“Boardrooms did not interest me and, when we played away, after the game I’d go into the manager’s office for a glass of wine or a cup of tea then go home.
“Someone like Arsene Wenger is very different.
“He goes to all the board meetings at Arsenal and even does a quick walk around the directors’ box at the Emirates before home games.
“I have seen it for myself at some Champions League games and find it amazing that he can be so relaxed.”
