Arséne Wenger has revealed that Arsenal will pursue other targets, if the situation with Suarez doesn’t improve, from the Gunner’s point of view.
Arsenal have been involved in one of the most public transfer sagas of this summer. Luis Suarez has been the subject of a couple of bids from Arsenal which were rejected immediately by Liverpool, but they seem to have turned the Uruguayan’s head. The PFA has had to step in to resolve the dispute between Suarez and Liverpool over a clause in his contract, which has now been revealed to be watertight about Liverpool only having to start listening to offers from £40m onwards.
Suarez came out in the media with interviews with the Guardian and the Telegraph, stating that he feels that he deserves to leave Liverpool to play Champions League football. A furious Brendan Rodgers has relegated him to train with the reserves for the time being for showing disrespect to the club and to Rodgers.
Wenger was quoted as saying to Al Jazeera Sport, ““We try and get what we want; if that doesn’t work we will look somewhere else.”
“The clubs with talented players don’t want to lose them.”
“Some clubs acted very early so the choices were reduced and there is more competition coming from France with Paris St Germain, who buy big players for huge amounts of money, so it’s tough, difficult and slow.”
“I can assure the fans we will try very hard to keep them happy. We are certainly ready to spend the money, but the process is going slowly, but surely.”
Seems Wenger is already giving up hope of getting the Uruguayan and it remains to be seen if Arsenal have any other option in the market with so little time left till the end of the transfer window.
