Arsene Wenger is looking to follow up the purchase of Mesut Özil with another superstar signing in January. The Frenchman splashed out £42.4 million to sign the German on deadline day and is already eyeing up further big money swoops when the window reopens in a few months.
One of the clubs major summer targets was Liverpool’s Luis Suarez but the Merseysiders refused to sell to a Premier League rival. Interest from the Emirates is still firm and the club are monitoring his situation at Anfield.
Wayne Rooney is also another target as Arsenal target a world-class centre-forward. Olivier Giroud is the club’s only senior striker. Chuba Akpom and Yaya Sanogo are too inexperienced to lead the line for a long period of time while Lukas Podolski is out injured until Christmas meaning the club are desperately short in strikers.
One of the things that bought Özil to Arsenal was the mention of other top signings and Wenger is keen to keep his promise.
