Arsene Wenger has admitted that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still has some work to do to reach full fitness at Arsenal.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a home debut to remember on Saturday when he scored his first goal for the Gunners in their 5-1 thrashing of Everton at The Emirates.
Aubameyang is settling into life in London after signing for the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund last week and he will be hoping to help Arsenal break back into the top four this season.
However, Arsenal boss Wenger has admitted that the attacker still has some work to do in getting back fully fit for the north London side.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Saturday at The Emirates, Wenger said: “I think that the quality of his movement was excellent, the quality of his finishing was excellent.
“But he is not completely at his best physically. He still has some work to do physically.”
Aubameyang will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to Premier League action with a crunch clash against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League at Wembley on Saturday lunchtime.
The Gunners really need to win that game if they are to keep alive their hopes of finishing in the top four this season.
Arsenal ended up in fifth place last term as they had to settle for a place in the Europa League this time around.
