Caught Offside are reporting that Arsene Wenger is set to splash a whopping £62 million on four new players in the coming weeks. Arsenal have so far struggled to land their key targets this summer but Wenger it set to step up his summer negotiations to heavily invest in his team.
With the knowledge that Liverpool have reluctantly let Luis Suarez talk with Arsenal, the Gunners boss is keen to agree personal terms before thrashing out a deal with Liverpool that will start the transfers at the Emirates.
Following Suarez’s arrival looks to be Swansea’s Ashley Williams. The Gunners inquired about the defender earlier in the transfer window but bulked at the £10 million asking price. The club have decided to enter the race for Wales captain with fears Thomas Vermaelen could face a long spell on the sidelines.
Freiburg youngster Matthias Ginter is also on Wenger’s radar with the teenager impressing in his breakthrough season. His versatility allows him to play in both defence and holding midfield, which is a capability Wenger likes. The Frenchman has reportedly told the Bundesliga club to name their price for the 19-year old with a quote of £6 million believed to be their response.
The fourth and final acquisition looks to be Feyenoord full-back Daryl Janmaat. The 24-year old is attracting interest across Europe but would favour a move to Arsenal over current interested parties Inter Milan and Fiorentina. With Bacary Sagna’s future still up in the air at Arsenal, Wenger wants to be able to bring in someone who can fill the void should rumours to PSG become real.
