Arsene Wenger knows he must spend to help the team and isn’t prepared to wait any longer after Aston Villa embarrassingly beat his side.
Wenger has been preparing a third bid for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and is ready to test their resolve with a £51 million offer with the striker still wanting to leave. Brendan Rodgers has repeatedly said the forward is not for sale and would not be sold for any price but Wenger still has hope he can land the Uruguayan.
He is also ready to finally land Ashley Williams after months of speculation. Arsenal are in desperate need of defensive options with the injuries to all of his defenders except Per Mertesacker and Carl Jenkinson, while Laurent Koscielny will miss the next two games due to suspension. Williams made a name for himself as one of the league’s best defenders last season and was linked with moves to Liverpool and Arsenal.
Swansea chairman. Huw Jenkins has said he is not prepared to let Williams go but Wenger is desperate and may bid higher than usual to make sure they get their man. An £11 million offer maybe to good for the Swans to turn down while they already have depth in defence to cover the loss.
The arrival of Suarez and Williams will help the team no end. Both players will bring considerable quality to the team while adding much needed depth to the squad however Arsenal are in need of more than two players to beef up their squad. Over 17 players have left the team in the summer and they need at least four of five additions to balance the team, but the pair would be a step in the right direction.
