The Arsenal board are finally set to give the green light for Wenger to splash the cash before the transfer window shuts.
Arsene Wenger has identified his key targets and has been given the go ahead to make bids for the players. At the top of his wish list remains Luis Suarez.
The Gunners have been chasing the Uruguayan all summer but Liverpool have so far refused to sell. They value the attacker at over £50 million, a figure Wenger wasn’t prepared to meet but following the clubs dismal result to Aston Villa on the opening day of the Premier League, Wenger is prepared to do whatever is necessary to get his man.
Suarez is still determined to leave Liverpool and the Gunners latest bid of £52 million could be enough for Liverpool to finally grant his wish. Suarez has been allowed back to train with the first team squad and got a warm reception by the Liverpool fans when he paraded the Anfield pitch but would still jump at the chance to join a Champions League team.
The Gunners injury-stricken defence has forced Wenger to up his interest in Manchester City defender Micah Richards. The 25-year old has been frozen out at the Etihad and is looking for a move away. Richards wants first team football and Wenger is able to offer that to him with a move to the Emirates. The Englishman can operate at full-back or centre-back and a fresh start could help him force his way back in to the England set-up.
Wenger hopes to see Richards playing infront of Julio Cesar in the coming weeks as he finally looks to seal a deal for the Brazilian. The Gunners have been tracking the shot-stopper all summer but seemed to lose out on him with a move back to Italy all bust assured however Napoli opted for Pepe Reina and Fiorentina dropped their interest. The current Brazil number one would cost a mere £3 million and would give Wenger a more experienced ‘keeper to choose from as well as acting as a mentor to Szczesny.
