Arsene Wenger has labeled Mikel Arteta as a ‘technical leader’ after the player resumed full training. The Spaniard is expected to be included in the match day to squad against Stoke City this weekend and Wenger is happy to have him back.
The squad is threadbare due to several injuries and his return gives the team an extra bit of depth.
Wenger feels Arteta is a key part of the Arsenal team despite the performances of Aaron Ramsey and arrival of Mesut Özil. He captained the team through the majority of last season and is a true leader, personality wise as well as technically.
“He is very influential and he’s a leader – one of the leaders of the team and he’s a technical leader as well.”
“We are happy to have him back as well because at the moment with the number of injuries we have, we are a bit short and we have plenty of games in front of us, so it’s good news.”
Also near to coming back to full training with the team is another Spanish Santi Cazorla.
