It is believed Suarez has a £40 million release clause in his contract however Liverpool insist the clause only obliges the club to carefully consider offers matching it rather than accepting them. Wenger seems ready to test it.
Wenger is eager to start spending the £70 million war chest he has been given but has so far been unsuccessful. Real Madrid continue to up their asking price for Higuain while Manchester United insist Wayne Rooney is not for sale. Wengers deems Marouane Fellaini and Ashley Williams are valued too highly, which leaves Suarez as his only real target at the moment.
Suarez wants to leave the Merseysiders but so far they have kept to their word and rejected all offers thrown their way. Wenger’s urgency to bring in stellar signings could mean he wont give up on his pursuit of the tricky attacker leaving Liverpool with a huge gap to fill.
The club are rumoured to have agreed a £21 million offer for Brazil youngster Bernard but no official confirmation has been announced as of yet.
