Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he has an eye on Real Sociedad’s hotshot Antoine Griezmann. The French star that has lit up La Liga was linked with a switch to the Emirates in January in the wake of Walcott’s out of the season injury. Now, Wemger has confirmed he isn’t a stranger to the talented and goal scoring winger.
“I’ve been following Antoine Griezmann for a long time.”
With that statement, what then could Wenger be up to, does that mean he ready to make a move to bring his countryman to the Emirates in the summer? Griezmann is a winger but not just a conventional one but one that knows the location of the net. This season alone, he has scored 15 La liga goals which means he would be a great addition to Arsenal. He would add pace to the Gunners, that has been missing since Walcott got injured though Chamberlain has tried to fill the void.
The fact that he has a good nose for goal means he could be moulded into a striker. Wenger is on the lookout for the new Henry and that seems to be his plan for Draxler. The prospect of getting the German hotshot looks unlikely owing to the supposed interest of German giants Bayern and the huge buyout clause he is likely going to command.
A move for Griezmann and Draxler would certainly involve triggering the release clause but the French man’s clause is cheaper than the German’s. Arsenal aren’t the only team interested in Griezmann as reports claim Juventus, PSG and Real Madrid are also in the running but the assurance of regular first team football should swing the pendulum Arsenal’s way. Besides, when it comes to luring French players, Wenger tends to have his way. Let’s hope it is déjà vu with Griezmann.
