Arsene Wenger has Practically confirmed his club have interest in signing Brazilian midfielder Luiz Gustavo from Bayern Munich. The 26 year old is reportedly close to joining Arsenal according to reports in both Germany and Brazil. However, Wenger has stated that although there is interest in signing the Brazilian, it is however not as advanced as the press makes it look.
When asked about the supposed interest in Gustavo his Arsenal side defeated Manchester City 3-1 in a preseason friendly match in Finland, Wenger said :
‘There is nothing concrete yet.’
It should be noted that if Arsenal have no interest in the Brazilian or the discussions are not advance at all, the Arsenal manager will most likely offer his usual ” I don’t comment on speculations” line or ” I don’t want to talk about individual players”.
To even buttress media reports, Luiz Gustavo has also practically confirmed the interest too. When pressed on whether there is an interest in him from Arsenal, the Brazilian simply said ‘It’s as you say.’
If signed, the Brazilian will not only offer the gunners adequate cover in the defensive part of their midfield but as well as in the centre of defense as he is able to play both as DM and CB.
