Arsene Wenger

Arsenal’s trouble with injuries may force Wenger’s hand in the transfer market according to Wenger himself. The Gunners currently have Podolski, Diaby, Koscielny, Ramsey, Arteta, Oxlade Chamberblain and Vermaelen all out due to injury. Podolski is reportedly out for 3 weeks after pulling his harmstring yesterday against Fenerbache. Diaby who got injured last season is still a long term doubt, Vermaele is also not close to returning to first team action. Koscielny was on the bench yesterday but it is believed he is still not totally fit while Arteta and Chamberblain are both out for at least 2 more months.

This situation Wenger has confirmed will get him thinking as the transfer window closes in the next 5 days.

“Yes, this [injuries] forces my hand. I cannot tell you more than we are on the market. The whole world knows that now.”

The gunners are currently linked with several high profile players with the fans growing increasingly frustrated with their club’s lack of tangible activity in the transfer market so far with the only signing been French striker Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer from French second division club Auxerre.

Wenger is reportedly set to spend as much as 80 million pounds on new players in the next 5 days as the club plan moves for Mata, Di Maria, Casillas, Flamini and Manchester City’s Micah Richards.
