It is now six days to to the close of the transfer market.
Whilst they have been turned down by striker Alexandre Lacazette this summer, Arsenal have returned to Olympique Lyonnais again. But this time, not for the French striker.
The Gunners are plotting a deadline day swoop for Lyon attacker Rachid Ghezzal, according to France Football.
Ghezzal is locked in contract battles with Lyon, as he is unwilling to put pen to paper on a new deal for Bruno Genesio’s side. He also recently opted out of a move to Everton, as the Merseyside outfit could not offer European football.
The above named source claim Arsenal are lining up the deadline day move for Ghezzal, should they fail to sign better candidates. The Algerian international has yet to feature for Lyon this term and last season, he appeared only 29 times in the league for the French giants. But despite any of his appearances being hardly starts, he managed to bag eight goals and record the same number of assists. Impressive, so to speak.
Ghezzal’s move to Arsenal seems impossible, as is the case with most targets. It appears the 24-year old and his agent are just playing hardball with Lyon in order to get an improved contract.
