In the wake of the Premier League defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates, you expect Wenger and Arsenal to be motivated to spend on the attacking and defensive areas of the squad.
Reports emanating from Spain via Marca, is in the claim that Columbia international James Rodriguez of Real Madrid has been put up for sale, with Arsenal touted as his most probable destination.
Since the appointment of Zinedine Zidane, James Rodriguez has fallen down the selection perking order of the French tactician – despite his experience, Isco gets more playing time and is favoured more.
James’ attitude is a concern. Marca say that whilst the player has done nothing particulary wrong during pre-season, he’s not exactly busted a gut to make sure he has a Real Madrid career.
Although, Arsenal have a cluster of creative midfielder but Rodriguez can play from the wing and would be a better option to Mahrez.
If Arsenal fails to sign a striker, A creative winger in the mould of Rodriguez would complement for an attacker.
Then there’s the price. Marca say Real Madrid paid €75m/£65m for James, and they want all of that back, despite wanting to sell and the player failing to get close to expectations.
Rodriguez netted 25goals for Madrid in the past two seasons.
