Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said Arsenal will struggle to convince Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney to join them in January. Arsenal were reported to have made a bid said to be as much as 30 million pounds for the Manchester United striker in the last window which was rejected and according to reports last few days, the French man is ready to try once again for the English man.
However, Wenger was yesterday evasive when questioned over whether he still has interest in signing Wayne Rooney in January
“I think he will stay there now because he was not sold by United in the transfer window, but he continues to do exactly the same [as Giroud by focusing on his football], and that is the right attitude.”
When it was directly put to him whether he still want the striker in January Wenger replied and said : “I just can say again, honestly I do not know.”
Considering Rooney form and the fact that there is a good chance of Arsenal still be in the mix for the title ( especially if their good form continues ) in January, I do not see United ever considering selling the striker to us as we will be seen as a direct rival for the title unless United are totally out of the title race which in my opinion possible but unlikely.
