Arsenal completed the signing of Palermo’s Emiliano Viviano on the very last day of the transfer window on a season long loan deal. People thought he was another panic buy but his agent has come out to dismiss that claiming saying he and his clients have been talking to Arsenal since July 1 when the transfer window officially opened.
“We knew that the Arsenal were looking for a goalkeeper, since July 1st I was talking with the London club that also had other names on the list, for example Julio Cesar,” Vigorelli told Calciomercato.
“At the end, with a little luck and conviction on the part of Arsenal we were able to close the loan deal.”
The Italian also had an opportunity to sign for Fiorentina but choose Arsenal. Asked why his client did choose the option of staying in Italy where he is more settled since he is an Italian Claudio Vigorelli replied :
“The Arsenal manager Wenger considered Viviano a reliable goalkeeper. Wenger has used beautiful words for Emilaino and, in the end, it is better that Fiorentina made other choices since Viviano now plays with one of the most prestigious clubs in the world and in the most important league in Europe in my optinion.
“Emiliano must now win the trust of the coach and a place in the team, working seriously as he has always done.”
Emiliano Viviano will be with Arsenal till the end of the season in June. Arsenal have an option to buy the keeper for 3 million at the end of the 1 year loan deal.
