Olympic Marseille’s goalkeeper Steve Mandanda has told his team mates to keep a close watch on Arsenal’s record signing Mesut Ozil if they want to have a chance of beating the gunners when they meet in the first champions league tie tomorrow.
Ozil who was signed on the transfer deadline day from Real Madrid for 42.5 million pounds ( a new Arsenal record ) is set to make his debut in the UEFA champions league for the gunners when they play away to Olympic Marseille.
This has made Steve Mandanda wary of the threat the high rated German poses and as such has warned his team mates they have to be careful of the German.
The French international goalkeeper said : “Ozil has increased Arsenal’s level in attack,”.
“His arrival has taken Arsenal to another level and he is perfect for the style of football and play that Wenger likes. I never expected Real Madrid to allow him to leave.
“Also, Giroud is in a sensational moment of form. We have to stop them from scoring and creating danger but that will not be easy. They look a very strong team.
“This Champions League Group is terrific. For any club to progress, every game must be like a final and you have to win your home games.
“Unless you do that, you have no chance.”
Arsenal are grouped with last season deputy champions Borussia Dortmund, Italian giants and deputy champions Napoli and French deputy champions Olympic Marseille in a champions league group F that has been tagged as the group of death by everyone.
