Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he is unsure about Iker Casillas’ future at the club. The goalkeeper was dropped by Jose Mourinho last season and Ancelotti opted for Diego Lopez in the season opener against Real Betis.
Arsenal have been linked with a move for the shot-stopper and the player’s position on the bench has increased speculation over his future. Ancelotti has pleaded for people to believe in his decision regarding the goalkeeping slot.
“The club is very lucky to have two fantastic keepers and I have to make the decision.”
“It is normal for me to make this kind of decision and gauge the reaction. I am not going to say who the keeper will be.”
“There has been a lot of talk going around and I would prefer to talk to both players first. Then I will make a decision, but it will not be definitive.”
“It is important to know that I make decisions so that the team wins. And above all, it is important to understand that it is not Iker or Diego who is playing, it is the Real Madrid goalkeeper.”
Spain boss Vicente Del Bosque has reassured Casillas that his role at Real Madrid will not affect his position in the national team with the national boss still favouring Casillas. However the player himself would like first team football and Arsenal are able to offer the 32-year old that as well as Champions League football.
