Lukas Podolski could be on his way out of Arsenal according to German newspaper Bild. Schalke, Wolfsburg, Galatasaray and Tottenham are all said to be interested in the forward.
Podolski has been used sparingly this season, coming on in the final minute in the clubs defeat to Aston Villa before a fairly longer cameo of nine minutes against Fenerbahce. The German had the same treatment last season and rarely played the full 90 minutes when he started.
The former Cologne attacker is a popular figure in the dressing room and a firm fans favourite so any move out of the club will anger the Arsenal faithful. The striker is happy to stay in London but admits anything can happen in football.
“There are always requests. I have no influence. But I feel that I am appreciated here. The fact is I have a contract at Arsenal. There is no reason to leave the club. But football is very much a business. However, so far nothing has happened.”
The comments clearly show he is happy to stay at Arsenal but should Wenger decide to sell him, then he would leave. Schalke are favourites to sign the German should Arsenal decide to cash in on the striker.
A move away is very unlikely with Wenger keen on keeping the club together and only ridding the club of its deadwood players, a label Podolski does not carry. As the season goes on, Podolski will get more chances to play and establish himself further.
The interesting thing is the fact that Tottenham are also interested. Wonder if they are so deluded to even think they have a little chance of signing a player as quality as Podolski from Arsenal
