ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger is reluctant to discuss speculation linking Thomas Lemar with a summer move to the Emirates.
Wenger is desperate to sign the Monaco winger but has seen two offers firmly rejected and the vice-president of the French club Vadim Vasilyev insisted the player wouldn’t be leaving.
Last season, Lemar scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists as Monaco won the French league title and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Monaco have already sold Bernado Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy to Premier League clubs this summer and are keen on keeping hold of their other star names like Lemar and Kylian Mbappe.
And Wenger says he won’t comment on Arsenal transfer talks unless a deal is done.
He said: “We don’t speak about how the negotiations go. We come out once the player is done or not done.
“I can’t tell you that. But at the moment there is nothing special to say in this case.”
Arsenal have already signed Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette this summer and Wenger says they are actively pursing targets.
“We are still active in the transfer market in general,” he said.
“You have two ways to strengthen your team. First by improving the players you have and the way you play and secondly by bringing in players from outside.
“At the moment we focus on the first part and we have a big squad you know, today we had not involved Gibbs, Debuchy, Wilshere. We have a massive squad. We have to first focus on the players we have.”
